Shonda – Patient Concierge
Originally from Bayou L’Ourse, LA, Shonda’s dental career spans nearly two full decades. As one of the first people our patients meet, she loves helping them overcome their dental anxiety and finally achieve the smile they’ve always dreamed of.
Away from work, Shonda lives with her hubby, four dogs, and one cat. She enjoys cooking/baking in her spare time and is also extremely passionate about animal rescue. Shonda and her husband are currently working with a rescue group to establish a low-cost mobile vet clinic in her hometown!
Michelle – Dental Hygienist
A Jacksonville native, Michelle studied at Florida State College at Jacksonville. Today, she has been working in the dental world for over 30 years, with most of that time spent right here at our dental office. She loves caring for our amazing patients! So many of them feel like family.
Michelle is happily married to her high school sweetheart Mike. They have two grown sons named Cody and Chad and two dogs named Cassie and Jackie. They’re a big baseball family and also love doing outdoor activities like camping, hiking, biking, and canoeing. She stays very active with her church and also recently started learning a new sport – pickleball!
Shannon – Dental Hygienist
Shannon has been working in dentistry for a few years so far, having studied at Florida State College at Jacksonville. Before that, she was enlisted in the Navy for over six years, where she worked with electronics on both the USS Kitty Hawk and the USS Abraham Lincoln. Today, she loves getting to meet and help so many interesting people all day long. Making a different in their lives is always a great feeling!
Shannon and her husband Brian have two kids named Emma and Noah, as well as two fur babies – an English Bulldog named Norm and a jerk cat named Kevin. In her spare time, Shannon enjoys being a bit of a geek. She loves Star Trek, Star Wars, and reading books like the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. Of course, her biggest hobby is chasing after her kids in order to keep them entertained and alive.
Kathy – Dental Assistant
Kat has been in the dental field for an amazing 40+ years so far, with half of that time spent right here at Dr. Schumacher’s dental office. She studied at Florida College of Medical and Dental Assistants and completed the dental hygiene program at Florida State College at Jacksonville. Today, what she enjoys most about her position is an easy answer – the wonderful patients!
Kat is from Orange Park, and she lives with her husband Linc and their two cats. In her spare time, she is a proud member of the Sports Car Club of America, serving as a Steward and Course Marshal.
Ashley – Dental Assistant
Ashley has been working in oral healthcare for nearly a decade so far, having recently relocated to Jacksonville from Indianapolis. She really enjoys seeing and treating patients for a variety of needs, but being able to give them true peace of mind is always one of her favorite moments of the job.
In her spare time away from work, Ashley enjoys exploring local parks, pubs, beaches, taking spontaneous trips, and cooking. Recently, she’s gotten a little obsessed with buying new plants and potting them. She has a dog named Nahla, and she’d love to hear about your dog too during your next visit!
Welcoming New and Existing Patients with a Smile
Whether you’ve been in our dental family for years or you’re coming to us for the first time, we’re thrilled to see you. When you come to visit, don’t be surprised to hear laughter in our office because we honestly love what we do. If it looks like we’re having too much fun, you may be right! We enjoy working with each valued patient, creating a comfortable environment, and putting a healthy, brilliant smile on their face.
The Dental Team Huddle
How does a coach get the team of athletes focused for a game? How does the team know what plays to run next? A team huddle! Every morning, our highly trained professionals gather together to discuss the appointments for that day. This meeting allows us to get excited about seeing our patients and helps us grow closer as a team. Although we come from different backgrounds and have unique skills, we do our best work for our patients together.
